Nakhchivan State University was founded in 1967.

Currently, about 6,000 students study in 58 specialties of 12 faculties at Nakhchivan State University. Highly qualified specialists receive higher education at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels. More than 580 international students from a dozen countries study at Nakhchivan State University. The scientific potential of the university has 447 teachers, including 2 academicians, five corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, 192 doctors and 32 doctors of Science.

The journal "Scientific Works" of NSU was included in the list of the Higher Attestation Commission and received an international code. NSU is a modern type of college with a strong national base.
