Khakass State University named after Katanova was founded in 1939 and is one of the largest universities in the south of Siberia. The University trains bachelors, graduates, masters, postgraduates and doctoral students; training business professionals. The University consists of 9 institutes; 4 colleges, a Research Institute; the Center of Information Technologies; the Resource center "IT-technologies"; the Center of E-learning and Distance Learning Technologies, etc. KHSU provides education and professional training in the fields of natural sciences, humanities and social sciences, education and pedagogy, health, culture and the arts, economics and management, services, manufacturing, agriculture and fishing, IT, civil engineering and architecture, personal safety, ecology and environmental protection. The university has more than 9,500 students. The University has qualified scientific and pedagogical staff: among the teachers there are 320 candidates of science and associate professors, 64 doctors and professors. The Institute of Medicine, Psychology and Social Work of KHSU has a center for higher medical education, which provides postgraduate training for employees with medical education. Opportunities for admission to residency and internship programs create the reality of continuing education for medical graduates. Since 2017, the primary accreditation of graduates of the specialty "Medical Care" has been carried out on the basis of the Institute. The University has purchased state-of-the-art equipment in the form of simulators and dummies that comply with this procedure. IMPSW KHSU constantly interacts with partner employers on issues of graduate employment and program improvement: the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Khakassia, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Republic of Khakassia and institutions providing medical services to the population; the main universities of Siberia and the Far East have concluded international agreements with medical universities.
