I. M. Sechenov Baku Branch of the First Moscow State Medical University was opened by order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Health of Russia on September 15, 2015.

The Faculty of Medicine is the main faculty of the Baku branch of the I. M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. The Medical Faculty trains highly qualified specialists. The basic subjects are taught by experienced personnel (102 teachers, including 22 professors, 50 associate professors) who have passed the qualification of the First Sechenov Moscow State Medical University.  On the basis of mutual cooperation, clinical subjects are taught by a local doctor and professors of the above-mentioned clinics (172 teachers, including 24 professors, 64 associate professors). In addition, 34 teachers (2 professors, 10 associate professors, 7 doctoral students) teach non-specialized subjects. Today there are 562 students (1st year-125, 2nd year-126, 3rd year-120,

Graduates of the faculty enrolled in the residency program can be trained in the following specialties: anesthesiology and resuscitation, general surgery, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, cardiovascular surgery, traumatology-orthopedics, otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, hematology, dermatovenerology, endocrinology, neurology, psychology. infectious diseases, immunology, allergy, medicine, radiation diagnostics, radiation therapy, microbiology, pathological anatomy, forensic medicine and genetics.
